Construction Site Superintendent

At Rusk, the superintendent is responsible for overseeing site progress, workers’ safety, and for overseeing the subcontractors and Rusk personnel to be sure they are performing according to the contract and schedule. Responsibilities include quality control and assurance, coordinating the various trades, accurately tracking job progress, and providing updated reports to the project manager and company principals. The superintendent is expected to carefully plan the job to keep ahead of ordering supplies and materials needed by the work crew, and anticipating needs or problems to present to the design team. The superintendent will often be client-facing at jobsite meetings, and will regularly work with architects, designers, and engineers.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in high-end residential construction in New York City
  • Strong project management and communications skills
  • Ability to read construction documents and use Procore
  • Ability to understand and troubleshoot residential MEP systems
  • Ability to establish benchmarks, axis lines and all related layouts for trades
  • Familiarity with regulatory construction standards
  • Be a 62 NYC SST card carrier
  • DOB licensed superintendent preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate all phases of construction, from preconstruction to job completion, including managing personnel, materials, and supplies
  • Coordinate construction activities between MEP trades and architectural finishes
  • Execute weekly work schedule to meet deadlines and budget in accordance with the contract
  • Daily Procore reporting
  • Change order cost management
  • Provide weekly updates to the project manager and other principals on job status
  • Provide takeoffs for ordering materials
  • Attend all site meetings, and communicate effectively with architects, engineers, and designers
  • Create and maintain a productive work environment
  • Create and maintain safe job site conditions in accordance with OSHA and company policy
